OCR: AIRLINER WING SMALL AIRPLANE needs only a few control surfaces to \ regulate its flight. An airliner is much heavier, and LEADING- EDGE FLAPS needs a complex array of flaps that change the shape of the wings to suit different stages of the flight. During landing, for example, the pilot raises TRAILING- flaps called spoilers. These increase drag (air EDGE FLAPS resistance) to slow the airliner down.
